To summarize my video below, I do three things that help me manage fidget spinners in the classroom.

1. The first thing that I do is start the year off with clear guidelines and expectations. I love giving all of the students the opportunity to have a fidget spinner during the school year because I mean, come one…they really are addicting to play with! The first thing that I do is lay the ground rules and talk with the students. We have 5 fidget spinner guidelines that we use.

2. After we have all talked as a group about what the expectations are, I require that each student sign a fidget spinner contract. They sign it with the understanding that if they don’t follow the classroom guidelines, that their fidget spinner privilege could be taken away.

3. Once we’ve gone over all the ‘serious’ stuff, I start the year off by playing a fun ‘gettin to know ya’ game using the students’ fidget spinners. The students use their fidget spinner as an arrow, spin their spinner, and then ask a fellow classmate/friend the question. They record their classmates answer on the response sheet and continue the activity until all of the responses are complete.
