Who doesn’t love a good game of catch? But this time, with a fun ELA twist! Your students will love mastering the word families with this interactive Word Web game! They’ll work together on producing rhyming words, using their vocabulary, and following instructions. Your students will have so much fun playing that they won’t realize they are learning! With 39 different word families included, this activity is perfect for morning work, literacy centers, whole class games, small group instruction, and intervention.
Easy Prep!
Just print and/or laminate the spider cards and word lists, grab a ball of yarn or string, and you’re good to go!
How Does It Work?
Students stand in a circle with the spider’s word family in the middle, then take turns saying words in the word family.
Each time a student says a word that rhymes, the ball of yarn is tossed to them so that a large web of string is made.
The teacher can check off words as they are said on their list or just use the list as a reference.
