How to use a word wall in your classroom
Word walls seem to be a staple in elementary classrooms. They are not only a great tool in the classroom to help build vocabulary and reinforce concepts like ABC’s, blends, diphthongs, digraphs, etc, but they are a great reference point for students if they are within eyes reach.
Creating meaningful experiences for our kiddos is so important, and one of my favorite ways to do that with a word wall is to incorporate the student’s names on the wall. Actually, this is a great way to start the year off! During your morning meeting, pull a name word wall card and introduce the student to the class. Have the student put their name on the word wall under the letter that their name starts with. This is a great way to build classroom community AND squeeze in some learning.
All of this to say, I want to share something that will help you create these meaningful experiences with your students, and will also give you some print and go resources to help reinforce phonics concepts.

You can hang these on hooks or put them in a container. And best of all – there is an editable portion as well so you can type in your own words to add!
